Dr. Margaret Stroud has worked in both K-12 and higher education settings as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, curriculum writer, assistant principal, principal, district superintendent, deputy superintendent, superintendent, and professor. As deputy superintendent of the Houston Independent School District (HISD) Dr. Stroud successfully managed more than 300 schools, developed a district organizational redesign, and implemented a leadership development program for principals and district superintendents. Dr. Stroud has also taught at the post-secondary level as a visiting assistant professor in the College of Education at Texas Southern University. Dr. Stroud’s research interest includes women in leadership roles and the development of effective principals.
Dr. Stroud contributed culturally relevant teaching practices to HISD’s English Language Arts Curriculum Guide has won many awards, including the Trailblazer Award, the Leroy Seals Leadership Award, the Raymond Hill Lifetime Achievement Award, the Amigo Award, and the Distinguished Alumni Award. As CEO of Teragram Inc, she now coaches clients who would like to perform better in both their professional and personal lives. Dr. Stroud received her bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in education from Texas Southern University.
